Pirelli has revealed who’s selected what tire for the Bahrain Grand Prix on April 2, which will still feature Pirelli’s supersoft, soft and medium tires as the three tire compounds the tire manufacturer will take to the track.
The big battle is between Mercedes and Ferrari, which have gone in alternate directions on the medium/soft breakdown.
Both of Mercedes’ drivers, Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg, have picked 1 medium and 6 softs. Ferrari has opted for more mediums – 3 sets each for Sebastian Vettel and Kimi Raikkonen, versus only 4 softs.
Elsewhere, only three teams have seen their drivers split their tire choices. They are:
- Toro Rosso: Max Verstappen 1 medium, 7 soft; Carlos Sainz Jr. 2 medium, 6 soft
- Sauber: Marcus Ericsson 3 medium, 5 soft; Felipe Nasr 4 medium, 4 soft
- Haas: Romain Grosjean 2 medium, 4 soft; Esteban Gutierrez 1 medium, 5 soft (both selected 7 supersoft sets)
