Porsche premieres new livery, tech details for its 2016 919 Hybrid

Improved aerodynamics, electronics and a new livery highlight the updated package for the 2016 version of the Porsche 919 Hybrid, as the Porsche Team looks to expand on its 24 Hours of Le Mans and FIA World Endurance Championship title wins in 2015.

The car will run primarily in a high downforce package except at Le Mans, where the optimal package is a low downforce setup.

Meanwhile the electric motor at the front axle has been optimized and a new front axle has been developed; Michelin has also strengthened its setup to even better suit the 919.

The 2-liter direct injected V4 turbo continues, although the power output will be down slightly owing to the new regulations that slow the LMP1 hybrids down a bit this year.

The white livery you’d seen the last two years has now gone by the wayside and an updated, perhaps stronger, white and black combination is on the car.
