Fernando Alonso takes fans questions in Twitter Q&A

A day after missing the Bahrain Grand Prix, McLaren Honda’s Fernando Alonso took time out to answer a number of fan and other onlookers/observers’ questions on Twitter.

The two-time World Champion was ruled out of action by the FIA, despite Ron Dennis’ best efforts to petition against it. Still, in Alonso’s stead, reserve driver Stoffel Vandoorne made an excellent Grand Prix debut and scored a point in 10th place, with Alonso helping the Belgian driver all weekend.

Some of Alonso’s replies in English are linked below – from what he’s proud of, his best race of his career, the best driver he raced against (Michael Schumacher), and more.

My colleague Luke Smith also had a playful, cheeky question he posed in the wake of Johnny Herbert’s recent comments that Alonso should retire:

A decision on Alonso’s status for China would likely come within the next week. The Chinese Grand Prix airs at 1:30 a.m. ET on Sunday, April 17, on NBCSN.
