Chris Karamesines has been making drag racing history for more than 65 years – and he’ll continue to do so this weekend at the NHRA 4-Wide Nationals at zMAX Dragway in Concord, North Carolina.
The 84-year-old Chicago native – nicknamed “The Golden Greek” or, just simply, “The Greek” – will once again take his Top Fuel dragster out for a few rides of 300-mph plus.

What makes this weekend all the more special for Karamesines is his 22-year-old granddaughter, Krista Baldwin, will also be competing in the event in the Top Alcohol Dragster class.
It will be Baldwin’s second national event this season in the Nitro University/McLeod Racing Dragster owned by Anthony Dicero. She also appeared in the season-opening Circle K Winternationals in Pomona, California, qualifying a strong seventh (5.26 seconds, 274 mph) to make the elimination field.
Baldwin is the daughter of Karamesines’ son-in-law, former Top Fuel drag racer Bobby Baldwin, who passed away in 2001.
