Stefan Wilson isn’t just racing Indy, but a GMG Lamborghini too

Stefan Wilson will shake the competition rust off this weekend when he makes his Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo North America debut, co-driving the No. 23 GMG Lamborghini Huracán LP 620-2 with David Seabrooke at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca. GMG team principal James Sofronas will drive the team’s No. 14 car.

The 26-year-old Englishman has explored sports car paddocks over the last year and a half, but this will mark his sports car racing debut.

It’ll be a nice way for him to get back into racing before his Indianapolis 500 run with KV Racing Technology and primary support from the Indiana Donor Network and Gap Guard.

Wilson joked about his fortune last night:

It’ll be a great opportunity for Wilson to prove himself, in a series that also features other notable pros including Richard Antinucci, Corey Lewis, Kevin Conway and Trent Hindman, among others.

“It’s great to get back behind the wheel before a busy May begins,” stated Wilson. “The Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo Series should present an interesting challenge, and it’s one I look forward to. The cars will be very different from what I’m used to, but I look forward to the opportunity, and I really appreciate David and the whole team at GMG for providing the opportunity.”

“The addition of Stefan and David will be fantastic for us this weekend,” Sofronas added. “Stefan is obviously weeks away from his Indianapolis debut and hopefully we can help get him ready, and David comes with years of experience in sports car so they should be a good mix. I also need to thank Lamborghini Newport Beach for really stepping in to help the program this week, they’ve been a great partner and a big part of why we’re here.”
