Spencer Pigot was sent to the showers before he even made his Major League debut.
The Verizon IndyCar Series driver was scheduled to throw out the first pitch Monday before the San Diego Padres and Chicago Cubs played at Wrigley Field.
Unfortunately, rain washed out the game – including Pigot’s pre-game duties.
But the iconic Borg-Warner Trophy – which is making a promotional tour to support the upcoming 100th running of the Indianapolis 500 presented by PennGrade Motor Oil – didn’t let the rain keep it from its appointed rounds, as it also was on hand at Wrigley. It was the trophy’s last appearance before it will be given to the winner of this year’s race on May 29.
There were some interesting images sent out on social media of both Pigot and the trophy, including one of former Cubs great and Baseball Hall of Famer Ryne Sandberg.
