Charles Leclerc will make his first Formula 1 weekend appearance with Haas during practice for the British Grand Prix at Silverstone next month.
Leclerc, 18, joined the Ferrari Driver Academy at the beginning of 2016, combining it with his racing duties in the GP3 Series.
The Monegasque racer was also confirmed as being a development driver for the new Haas team, which enjoys an extensive technical partnership with Ferrari.
On Friday, Haas confirmed that Leclerc would be making his first appearance for the team during practice for the British Grand Prix on July 1, deputizing for Esteban Gutierrez.
Leclerc will take part in four more practice sessions – Hungary, Germany, Malaysia and Abu Dhabi – thereafter, once again replacing Gutierrez each time.
“This is a fantastic opportunity to get seat time in a Formula One car and I can’t thank Haas F1 Team and Esteban enough,” Leclerc said.
“I’m honored by the faith Haas F1 Team and Ferrari have in me. This is an important step toward my ultimate goal of becoming a Formula 1 driver.”
Haas tea principal Guenther Steiner added: “Charles Leclerc is highly regarded by Ferrari and his record speaks for itself.
“We’re happy to provide this opportunity and help develop the next generation of Formula 1 drivers. Credit also goes to Esteban for sharing his racecar and serving as a mentor to Charles.”
