The Haas Formula 1 Team has confirmed that development driver Santino Ferrucci will get behind the wheel of its VF-16 car for the first time at Silverstone next week.
Ferrucci, 18, joined Haas in the role at the beginning of the season, balancing his commitments with a drive in the GP3 Series with DAMS.
The native of Woodbury, Connecticut is set to split the two-day test at Silverstone with Charles Leclerc, who will make his Haas debut during practice this coming Friday at the British Grand Prix.
“Becoming a Formula 1 driver is my ultimate goal and I can’t thank Haas F1 Team enough for this opportunity,” Ferrucci said.
“Nothing beats seat time, and the experience of driving a Formula 1 car and working with Haas F1 Team will be invaluable.”
“We brought Santino on with Haas F1 Team because he’s done a very good job of proving himself in each of the racing series he’s competed in,” team principal Guenther Steiner added.
“We see Santino as a young, American driver with a lot of potential who has earned this opportunity.”
