Sebastian Vettel’s Austrian Grand Prix came to an end on Lap 27 with a right rear tire blowout, which marked his third failure to finish this year (DNS in Bahrain, first lap accident in Russia).
Pirelli has confirmed debris caused the puncture and the blowout, following an analysis conducted this week.
In a statement, Pirelli said there was “no signs of fatigue or structural failure in the right-rear tire itself,” which then led to the conclusion it was debris.
Vettel was on Pirelli’s red supersoft compound at the time. You can see the video below.
