IMSA: Action Express Corvette DP, Ford double up again at CTMP

imsa_28864058

Just like a week ago at Watkins Glen International, an Action Express Racing Corvette DP 1-2 sweep and the No. 67 Ford Chip Ganassi Racing Ford GT have won the latest round of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship season - this time at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park.

This time it was the No. 31 Whelen Engineering-backed entry of Dane Cameron and Eric Curran securing its first win of the season in a Corvette DP 1-4 sweep, the first for that car this year.

The No. 5 Action Express car (Christian Fittipaldi and Joao Barbosa) was second ahead of the No. 10 Wayne Taylor Racing and No. 90 Visit Florida Racing Corvette DPs.

Ford, meanwhile, won its third straight race in GT Le Mans with the No. 67 car driven by Richard Westbrook and Ryan Briscoe following up their past triumphs at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca and Watkins Glen.

The Ford win is perhaps somewhat surprising following a Balance of Performance change heading into the weekend, but the Corvette Racing pair of C7.Rs were back, close in second and third in class.

Other class winners were CORE autosport with Colin Braun and Jon Bennett (second win of the year, PC, Sebring) and Turner Motorsport with Jens Klingmann and Bret Curtis in their BMW M6 GT3 (first win of the year, GTD).
