Renault Formula 1 chief Frederic Vasseur has confirmed that Esteban Ocon will take part in practice for next weekend’s Hungarian Grand Prix as part of his ongoing development with the team.
Ocon joined Renault in a reserve role at the beginning of the season, being loaned to the French marque by parent team Mercedes.
The defending GP3 champion made his first practice appearance at Silverstone last weekend with Renault before taking part in two days of testing for Mercedes.
“Esteban drove for us in FP1 in Silverstone then he was kept busy by Mercedes for two days of testing at Silverstone so we’ll be checking what he’s allowed to tell us about that experience!” Vasseur joked in Renault’s Hungarian Grand Prix preview.
“The plan is for him to drive again in FP1 in Hungary as part of his season-long programme.”
Ocon is set to return to the racetrack this weekend at Zandvoort in the Netherlands, where he will be racing for Mercedes’ DTM team.
