Persistent rain washed out the final and deciding round of eliminations in the Protect The Harvest NHRA Northwest Nationals Sunday evening at Pacific Raceways in suburban Seattle.
Per NHRA policy, and because only one round of eliminations remain to determine the winners in Top Fuel, Funny Car and Pro Stock, teams will not remain in Seattle nor run on Monday.
Instead, the finals for Top Fuel and Funny Car will be contested prior to the next national event in two weeks at Brainerd, Minnesota. The final rounds are expected to be held on Friday, August 19.
Finals for Pro Stock will be contested prior to the start of the sport’s biggest race of the season, the U.S. Nationals, on Labor Day Weekend. The final round is expected to be held on Friday, Sept. 2.
In the rescheduled Top Fuel final at Brainerd, two-time and defending series champ (and current points leader) Antron Brown will face Steve Torrence.
In the rescheduled Funny Car final at Brainerd, Del Worsham, who twice set the national elapsed time during Saturday’s qualifying at Seattle, will face points leader Ron Capps, who has won four races this season and is seeking his 50th career Funny Car win.
In the rescheduled Pro Stock final at Indianapolis, we’ll see the first final round of the season that does not include points leaders and teammates Greg Anderson and Jason Line. Instead, it will be Vincent Nobile vs. Aaron Strong.
Sad to say we are rained out. The final for Top Fuel & Funny Car will run at Brainerd in 2 weeks. The Pro Stock final will at Indy #USNats.
