Usher, Roots Crew, Taylor Swift to hold concerts during F1 U.S. Grand Prix weekend

Things are going to be hipping and hopping at Circuit of the Americas on Oct. 23.

Following the main event – the Formula One United States Grand Prix – there will be a post-race concert featuring Usher and the Roots Crew (house band for NBC’s The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon).

COTA officials announced the concert lineup Wednesday morning. There will also be a Taylor Swift concert on Saturday, Oct. 22, following F1 practice at the expansive Austin, Texas motor racing facility. It will be Swift’s only live concert performance of 2016.

Originally, two-time Grammy winner The Weeknd was slated to be the lead performer after the race – the fifth F1 event to be held at COTA – but the artist was forced to cancel his appearance, paving the way for Usher to serve as replacement.

In a sense, the concert will be a reunification of Usher and the Roots Crew, who already performed together twice earlier this year at the Bowery Ballroom and at the Roots Picnic.

Usher’s new single, “No Limits,” featuring Young Thug, is No. 1 on the R&B/Hip Hop charts, the 15th No. 1 of his career.

“It gives me great pleasure to welcome Usher and the legendary Roots Crew to COTA,” COTA Founder and CEO Bobby Epstein said in a release. “To add an act of this quality and acclaimed status further cements the growing reputation of the Formula One United States Grand Prix as the most fan-friendly and entertaining race weekend, both on and off the track.”

All tickets for race weekend will also allow admission into both concerts.
