Alex Zanardi’s latest inspiration? Win in GT race return

97th Indianapolis 500 - Practice

Alex Zanardi just keeps raising the bar.

A few weeks ago, he was back just doing his usual two Gold (first Gold, second Gold) and one Silver medal-winning at the Rio Paralympic Games in handcycling, just to follow up his accolades achieved in London in 2012.

But back in the type of arena where he made his name in the first place - car racing - Zanardi took to a modified BMW M6 GT3 car like a duck to water and won the season finale of the Italian GT Championship in Mugello, in his car race return for the first time in more than a year.

Zanardi converted a front row start into a win. He’s 49 now, and will turn 50 on Sunday.

It’s the latest incredible chapter in Zanardi’s inspirational story.
