Campos Racing has announced that Julien Falchero will form part of its line-up for the 2017 GP3 Series season.

GP3 acts as the third-highest rung on the European single-seater ladder, being the direct feeder series to GP2 which in turn leads to Formula 1. The series was won by Ferrari junior Charles Leclerc in 2016.

Falchero is the third driver to be announced on the grid for 2017 following Guiliano Alesi and Kevin Jorg (both at Trident).

The Frenchman has previously raced in Formula Renault 2.0 series across Europe, and tested a GP3 car with the Campos team in Abu Dhabi last month.

“A new challenge in 2017 in GP3 Series with Campos Racing is an extraordinary opportunity,” Falchero said following the announcement.

“The tests in Abu Dhabi and the integration within the team in Valencia in Spain are a real treat for me.

“I’m going to prepare for the best physically this season 2017 and have as coach a great former French F1 driver, Jean-Pierre Jarier, who agreed to take care of me with the goal to occupy the first places on the grid.”

The 2017 GP3 season is expecting to begin in Barcelona, Spain in May.
