Two weeks after Sebastian Vettel’s surprise victory in the Formula 1 season-opening Australian Grand Prix, the paddock has reconvened in China for the second round of the 2017 campaign.

It is rare for Mercedes to arrive at a race as the underdog, such has been its dominance through the V6 hybrid era of F1, but Lewis Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas will have to dig deep and find a reaction if they are to hit the top step of the podium in Shanghai.

With the pecking order still hard to define, this weekend’s Chinese Grand Prix should go some way in setting the tone for the forthcoming season.
