The trio of Abu Dhabi Grand Prix podium finishers expressed doubts and concerns over Formula 1’s new logo, which was revealed on the podium after formalities were concluded.

None of Valtteri Bottas, Lewis Hamilton nor Sebastian Vettel addressed the new logo on the podium itself but were asked about it in the post-race press conference, and all offered frosty responses.

“I kind of like the old one. I only saw it very quickly,” Bottas said.

“Just say you don’t like the new one!” Vettel replied.

“What’s wrong with the old one? I don’t know. I think it’s quite cool,” Bottas answered.

“I liked the old one better,” Vettel concluded.

Hamilton took it a step further, noting how so many brands and companies retain their iconic logos and rarely switch.

“The problem is logos… I think the one that we already had was an iconic logo I think,” he said. “Just imagine Ferrari changing their logo, or Mercedes changed their logo. I don’t think the new one is as iconic but maybe it will grow on us.”

As one might expect, the quick and immediate “hot take” outrage erupted on social media in the aftermath of the logo’s release.

Logo designers Wieden+Kennedy London explained the process in a post on CreativeReview.co.uk following the release.
