Hamilton picks up F1 championship trophy at FIA Prize Giving gala

Lewis Hamilton was officially crowned Formula 1 world champion for the fourth time on Friday night in Paris as he picked up the championship trophy at the FIA’s end-of-season gala.

Hamilton clinched the drivers’ title for Mercedes at the end of October in Mexico after a hard-fought season against Ferrari rival Sebastian Vettel.

The Briton was honored by FIA president Jean Todt and F1 CEO Chase Carey at the season-ending prize giving on Friday night, presenting the trophy for the championship.

Hamilton was joined on stage by Mercedes F1 team boss Toto Wolff, who accepted the constructors’ championship for the fourth straight year.
