On his way to check out the Indianapolis Colts’ training camp, NBC Sports’ NFL expert Peter King tried his hand on an off-day from his NFL Training Camp Tour at a different kind of sport recently, namely, taking a ride in an Indy car.

“Andrew Luck (Colts QB) has done this so I’m going to give it a go, we’ll see what’s it like -- and I’m just sorta of hoping, I hope I don’t die,” King joked before climbing into a special two-seater Honda-powered IndyCar with driver Kyle Kaiser. “I’m here on the oval at Indianapolis Motor Speedway for the first time in my life, and I’m not here as a spectator. I’m here as a passenger.”

Afterward, King spoke about the new-found respect he has for IndyCar drivers:

“I’m a writer for a living, I’m paid to describe what experiences are like. I don’t think I can describe that (riding in an Indy car at over 200 mph). I have so much more respect for IndyCar drivers than I did before. I didn’t really think very much about it. But these guys are really, really good.”
