Colton Herta set the fastest lap in the second practice for the IndyCar Grand Prix with an elapsed time of 1 minute, 8.0393 seconds.
Herta, in the No. 88 GESS International Honda for Harding Steinbrenner Racing, led fellow rookie Felix Rosenqvist (1 minute,8.2471 seconds) by 0.2078 seconds.
Spencer Pigot, who was second-fastest in first practice, was third-fastest with an elapsed time of 1 minute 8.2663 seconds. Sebastien Bourdais (1 minute, 8.2917 seconds), and Scott Dixon (1 minute, 0.2971 seconds) completed the top five.
The lone red flag of the session came out nine minutes in, when Ed Jones stopped on the track after running out of fuel. Jones, who was experiencing radio issues, did not hear the call from his Ed Carpenter Racing crew to come into the pits one lap prior.
Qualifying for the IndyCar Grand Prix is scheduled to begin later at 4:30 p.m. ET, with live coverage on NBCSN and NBC Sports Gold.
