INDYCAR: How to watch Friday’s action from Laguna Seca

For the first time in 15 years, Indy cars will be racing at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca, and the stakes have never been higher.

This weekend’s Firestone Grand Prix of Monterey is the final race of the 2019 NTT IndyCar Series season, and with four drivers mathematically eligible for the series championship, there will be plenty of story lines to follow.

Current series points leader Josef Newgarden enters this weekend with a 41-point lead over second-place Alexander Rossi.

However, with double points awarded this weekend, Rossi, along with Simon Pagenaud (-42) and Scott Dixon (-85) will also have the opportunity to win the championship in Sunday’s 90-lap race (2:30 p.m. ET on NBC).

There will be little room for error for all four contenders this weekend. Even the slightest mistake could make or break a driver’s chances of hoisting the Astor Cup.

Any driver looking to win it all this weekend will want to show speed in every session, including both of today’s practice sessions, which will stream live exclusively on NBC Sports Gold.

Here is today’s schedule:

(All times are Eastern)

Friday 9/20, 1:30 p.m. ET, IndyCar Practice 1, NBC Sports Gold

Friday 9/20, 5:10 p.m. ET, IndyCar Practice 2, NBC Sports Gold
