Several members of the IndyCar community were all in the same setting last Saturday. But instead of at a race track, they were all at the Lucas Estate in Carmel, Indiana to celebrate the wedding of Robert Wickens and Karli Woods.

For Wickens, the wedding presented the opportunity to honor a promise he made to both his new wife and himself, one which he told NBC Sports’ Kelli Servast in an interview that aired before IndyCar’s season opener on the streets of St. Petersburg in March

“One of my main goals is that I need to be on my feet at my wedding,” Wickens said in the interview. “That’s really almost what’s driving me more than getting back into an IndyCar.

In a photo he shared on Twitter Monday, Wickens did just that, an amazing feat for the 30-year-old who is still recovering from a spinal cord injury sustained in an August 2018 IndyCar race crash at Pocono Raceway.

Many other members of the motorsport community were in attendance at the wedding, including Wickens’ best friend and NTT IndyCar Series driver James Hinchcliffe, as well as fellow drivers Marco Andretti and wife Marta, Max Chilton and wife Chloe, and Graham Rahal and wife Courtney Force.

Wickens and the now former Karli Woods practiced their first dance together as a married couple a few weeks ago, which Woods tweeted about.
