The No. 10 Wayne Taylor Racing Cadillac of Kamui Kobayashi was fastest in the final practice session for the Rolex 24 at Daytona Friday morning, a session which ended earlier than expected due to a heavy crash by Don Yount.

Yount was driving the No. 38 Performance Tech Motorsports Oreca 07 Gibson when he lost control of his car and wound up in the Turn 6 inside tire barrier with 15 minutes remaining. He was able to get out of the car under his own power.

Though the session was initially red-flagged by race control, the decision was eventually made to end it prematurely.

Thus, Kobayashi’s 1 minute, 35.340 second lap made earlier in the session remained unchallenged.

Helio Castroneves was second fastest in the No. 7 Acura Team Penske entry, a car that previously crashed in the bus stop chicane with Ricky Taylor behind the wheel Thursday. Castroneves ended the session 0.393 seconds behind Kobayashi.

Sebastien Bourdais was third fastest in the No. 5 JDC Miller MotorSports Cadillac, 0.691 seconds back.

Live coverage of the Rolex 24 at Daytona begins Saturday at 1:30 p.m. ET on NBC.
