IMSA reschedules Petit Le Mans, Mid-Ohio, Laguna due to coronavirus

mail

Three events in the 2020 IMSA WeatherTech Sports Car Championship were moved to new dates Tuesday because of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

The Acura Sports Car Grand Prix at Mid-Ohio, which originally was scheduled for the weekend of May 1-3, now will run on the weekend of Sept. 25-27.

Next, the Monterey Sports Car Championship at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca will move up a week to Sept. 4-6. The race originally was scheduled for Sept. 11-13 but was changed to accommodate IMSA competitors planning to compete in the 24 Hours of Le Mans, which was moved to Sept. 19-20.

Lastly, the Motul Petit Le Mans at Road Atlanta has been moved back a week to Oct. 14-17 from Oct. 7-10.

Road Atlanta originally was scheduled as the IMSA season finale, but the Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring now holds that honor. IMSA announced the Sebring weekend would be rescheduled to Nov. 11-14 on March 12.

All IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge events that were scheduled to accommodate all four races also will be rescheduled to the new weekends. Previously purchased tickets for all four events also will be valid at all new dates.
