Santino Ferrucci is very much looking forward to getting back out on the track, even if it's coming in the form of a virtual iRacing Challenge. Leigh Diffey catches up with the IndyCar driver as they preview Saturday.

IndyCar has unveiled the 26 entries for the opener to its six-race iRacing exhibition season that will begin Saturday.

Watkins Glen International was chosen as the location for the opener in online fan voting among eight tracks.

Each virtual race event, which will last approximately 90 minutes to two hours, will begin at 4 p.m. ET each Saturday through May 2.

Seven-time NASCAR champion Jimmie Johnson was announced Friday morning as the newest entrant.

Among the drivers competing in the race: defending series champion Josef Newgarden, two-time Supercars champion Scott McLaughlin, Pato O’Ward, Felix Rosenqvist, Will Power, Santino Ferrucci, Graham Rahal, Conor Daly, Simon Pagenaud, Zach Veach, Alexander Rossi, James Hinchcliffe, Tony Kanaan and Sebastien Bourdais.

Robert Wickens, who continues to make a recovery from injuries sustained in an Aug. 19, 2018 crash, was on IndyCar’s original entry list for the race but has pulled out because of equipment availability.

An IndyCar spokesman said if the equipment arrives, Wickens could be added to the race, and Wickens has requested help so he can race.
