IndyCar results and points standings after Gateway Race No. 2

Team Penske rebounded with a strong showing Sunday in the results and points at World Wide Technology Raceway, taking two of the top three spots a day after failing to finish in the top 10 on the 1.25-mile oval.

Josef Newgarden scored his second victory of the season and the 16th of his NTT IndyCar Series career, tying the late Dan Wheldon for 30th on the all-time list. It’s the second victory at Gateway for Newgarden, who also won the back half of the Iowa Speedway race weekend doubleheader last month.

Teammate Will Power finished third for his third podium of the season and 79th of his career.

Runner-up Pato O’Ward matched a career-best finish with his third podium of the season (after finishing third Saturday).

Veteran Tony Kanaan finished 19th in his last scheduled IndyCar start this season. The 2004 series champion and 2013 Indy 500 winner is hoping to return for a partial schedule next year.
