Audi Sport’s No. 7 Audi R18 will continue with just two drivers at this weekend’s FIA World Endurance Championship 6 Hours of Mexico City, with Benoit Treluyer still sidelined following a bicycle accident.
Treluyer sat out the series’ most recent round at the Nürburgring but was expected to compete this weekend alongside usual teammates Andre Lotterer and Marcel Fassler.
But after participating in first practice and determining he wasn’t up to full fitness, he’s now been ruled out. It’s the second manufacturer car in LMP1 to only have two drivers for the weekend, Toyota Gazoo Racing’s Anthony Davidson also having been ruled been out of action as well.
“That was a good opportunity to get used to the car again,” Treluyer said after running in first practice.
Head of Audi Motorsport Dr Wolfgang Ullrich added: “In the race though, Benoît needs to be absolutely fit. In agreement with our team physician, we have decided to give Ben more time to recover and to build up his fitness again in order to be one hundred percent fit for the 6-hour race in Austin in two weeks’ time.”
