He used to be known during his racing days as Awesome Bill from Dawsonville.

But now soon-to-be NASCAR Hall of Fame member Bill Elliott will carry a new nickname of sorts: real estate mogul extraordinaire.

According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Elliott has sold 143 acres of property that he owns in the Atlanta suburb of Cumming for $4.2 million.

Located in growing Forsyth County, Cumming is primarily an upscale community – and upscale homes are what’s planned for Elliott’s massive property. Cumming is about 25 miles south of Dawsonville, Ga., where Elliott grew up.

According to the AJC, SunBelt Atlanta/Cummings I LLC has purchased the property and will build approximately 300 upscale single-family homes on the site, ranging in price from between $350,000 and $500,000.

All told, the overall project – which is slated to break ground this month – will cost approximately $120 million. The purchase from Elliott officially closed last Friday, the newspaper noted.
