Chase Sexton finally broke through in Supercross' return to Anaheim, holding off Eli Tomac in a thrilling winner-take-all third race, while Levi Kitchen broke Jett Lawrence's 250 stranglehold.

Chris Blose will join the Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki team in the Supercross 250 East division when they have their first race in Houston, Texas on February 4.

Blose joins Carson Mumford as a fill-in rider for a team that has been decimated by injury in the past few weeks. Mumford replaces Austin Forkner in the 250 West division after Forkner suffered a hard crash in the season opener in Anaheim.

Last week, Pro Circuit Kawasaki announced Seth Hammaker would miss the season opener with a wrist injury. Almost immediately, it was announced Jo Shimoda would also miss the 250 East opener with a shoulder injury.

“It’s an honor to be gearing up to race with the Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki team,” said Blose in a press release. “I’ve seen the success of the team firsthand throughout my career and I’m really looking forward to going racing with their support. While Houston SX is coming up fast, I’ve had a lot of comfort on the KX 250 recently so the bike is familiar and we should be competitive right out of the gate.”

This will be the sixth season for Blose on a 250 Supercross bike. Last year, he finished seventh in the West division on the strength of five top-10 finishes in 10 Mains. His best finish of sixth that season came with GasGas. Over the winter, he competed in the World Supercross Championship and finished second in the British GP, which was the first time he raced professionally on a Kawasaki since 2012 when he was riding in the 450 class.

Blose also finished second last year in the Supercross de Paris.

A timetable has not been given for the return of either Hammaker or Shimoda, but they will miss multiple rounds according to the team. Forkner is out for the remainder of the season with multiple injuries including an ACL tear.

Mumford and Blose’s signing leaves one seat left to fill.
